Guitar Hero II: Recently acquired, most expensive game ever, yet I got it about $20 off retail. Not bad. I finished the game on Medium the first 3 hours I got it. I still struggle though on hard, but I can play one or two songs on expert.

Songs that are fun to fail on expert for me are, “The Trooper” and “Beast and the Harlot”. I can play “Hangar 18″ and Surrender on expert as well. But I am more inclined to fail then passing thru with 3 stars. Does anyone get two stars of less in this game? Oh, I find Guitar Hero to be very difficult on easy

Gears of War: First game I got, but only played recently, and completed Casual campain. Short, but good fun. Still stuck on Hardcore, Episode 1.

Dead Rising: Import game, not available here, so it’s the second most expensive purchase. Have not played thru yet. Should be next on my list. I hate zombies though.

Crackdown: This is what fun should mean. Blowing up people with over the top pyrotechnics, jumping and leaping thru tall buildings in a single bound. This game had most of the playtime. Still not finished as I like goofing around in the game instead of killing the bosses.

Need for Speed Carbon: Nice racing game just to let off steam. Unfortunately, the game I have will freeze at a certain road. Not good at all.

Burnout Revenge: Really good fun, especially when you feel like running down the guy who blocked your way, in the fast lane, while you are trying to get to work on time. This is the cure for your evil driving thoughts in real life. Can be frustrating to play at times though.

Oblivion: If only I have the time to play this. Enough said!

I have other games as well, but those are the few I keep going back to.

Games to acquire when extra cash happens to come by, and if I have the time:

Bioshock: Looking forward to this, really.

GTA IV: Will definitely be an import, I hope it’s not tied to a region, else I’m screwed.

I’m sure there are others, but those are the two at the top of my head.

I was quite happy with the list, a bunch of names came up, and the one that I looked for appeared on the list. It was refreshing to find something like this. I do however, know someone who’s got a more comprehensive list of people who are our peers at the time, but of course, the list on namedatabase.com covers a wide gamut of people than what my friend has. My friend however, does not have the one I was looking for.

The namedatabase site however, is a very annoying site to use. It tries to bug you to pony up money (at least $12) in order to get you to contact that one person whom I have no idea if the person have changed the email address and have forgotten about the name database altogether.

This is so unlike LinkedIn that allows you to not only give more details about yourself, it does not require you to pay up money to get connected to other people you know in your personal space.

If you don’t want to pay, you end up needing about 24 email addresses, 24 innocent people to send spam they might not need. Evil, right down to the core. I really wonder if the database is used to sell off the email addresses for profit.

Anyway, I managed to get a hold of the person I’m looking for, and I am happy for that. We had a good IM chat session.

The irony of it though, we knew a mutual friend who had the contact info I needed, whom I had no idea would be the right person to ask. If only we have something like LinkedIn to connect the dots for us.

Woot! Got the wordpress widget installed with a few problems that I managed to fix.

Problem 1: Widget displays in miles, changed to KM

Problem 2: Somehow the DOCTYPE text is displayed before the white box. (See Screenshot). Fixed by downloading the nplus.xsl from the site, commented it out by hand, and change the script to grab the xsl from the filesystem.

Problem 3: Can’t really fix this one as I don’t have the time :P. When the plugin has got problems downloading the data from the nike plus website, we get a NaN (Not a Number) as the result. This can be solved by caching IMHO. I believe that caching the data for an hour or a day won’t stress out the data retrieval that the Nike servers sometimes faced.

Anyway, here’s a pat on the back to Chris Bert for writing such a cool utility. I can’t wait for the version 0.2

HONG KONG: The strong Taiwan earthquake, measuring a magnitude of 7.1, damaged several undersea data cables in the region on Wednesday, jamming up the Internet, a Hong Kong phone operator said.

Internet was slow this morning, then the tubes get clogged up by lunchtime, causing the internet to come to a grinding halt. Singapore sites are reachable, and the sites that most of us go to (not in Singapore), are ‘dead’. I told my colleague that it could be due to natural causes, seeing how it’s been raining cats and dogs these few days. He called up the ISP and that’s where we got the news.

I don’t really rely on the internet to do work, but when the internet is down, so does the morale :). Anyway, things are fine now. I guess we are now on a slower backbone, but as long as it works, I’m happy.

As an employee, I know that Valve employees will NEVER contact users over MSN. I also know a valve employee will NEVER ask a user for his/her username and password.

Had a great laugh reading this. You never give contact information, like passwords, to people who you think have some sort of authority. Especially if they have the power to deactivate your account.

OMG! I must be living in the dark ages or something, as I didn’t realize that you can tag location on a photo, and Flickr will then map the location for you.

I’m going to ‘need’ a GPS enabled camera, as this looks fun. I wonder if the Garmin Forerunner 305 can store points to be retrieved later, when I need the info. If yes, then I won’t need a GPS enabled camera after all. Oh, that watch should be on my wish list as well
